Centuries ago, between the 1400s and 1800s, my Gimbel ancestors walked as protectors alongside the Native American Iroquois Haudenosaunee People. They stood as guardians of the Buffalo, understanding what so many could not—that these magnificent beings carried the very essence of the sacred, the breath of Spirit itself flowing through their powerful forms.

When people ask why my soul burns with such fierce devotion for the Buffalo, why my heart calls out with unwavering determination for their protection, I share this truth: This calling lives in my blood. It pulses through my lineage. I am a carrier of Buffalo Medicine.

This wasn't knowledge passed down through family stories or learned from books. This was a knowing that stirred deep within my being—a recognition that whispered through my dreams and sang in my bones long before I understood its meaning. When Ancestry and 23andMe revealed the sacred threads of my past in 2017, everything clicked into place. I dove deep into research, following the ancient trail my ancestors had walked, understanding finally why my spirit had always been drawn to these sacred beings.

We are all living libraries. The stories of our people flow through our DNA like rivers of memory. They arrive as dreams that feel like prophecies, as songs that make our hearts weep with recognition, as a knowing that transcends all explanation.

And then, in June 2024, the ancient prophecy awakened.

Wakan Gli—Sacred Return—was born in Yellowstone National Park. An all-white Buffalo, pure as fresh snow, carrying the promise our ancestors had protected for generations. Chief Arvol Looking Horse of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe named this miraculous being, recognizing the fulfillment of the sacred White Buffalo prophecy—the signal that the time of healing and spiritual awakening had arrived. *Edited from the Lakota Tribe 7/8/25, my respect and apologies, I was going by spirit and remembrance.

As I celebrated my birthday this year, I felt the call of my lineage, the whisper of my ancestors, the pull of Buffalo Medicine flowing through my veins.
